2010 – Goals

January 5, 2010

Let’s all welcome 2010 with a BANG! =)

Below are some of the stuff that I’d like to accomplish this year:

  • Acquire a driver’s license (by March or April)
  • Save
  • Eat healthy
  • Lessen alcohol intake – drink more water and fruit juices
  • Become physically fit (join urbanathlons!)
  • Be more active in photography
    • attend workshops
    • buy a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens (try out portraiture)
    • buy a Phottix battery grip (to add weight and battery life to my camera)
    • buy a SB-600 external flash (try out strobing)
    • buy a tripod (for night photography)
  • Travel (international/local)
  • Help a person in need (my brother most probably)

I’ll be posting my work related goals soon.

Belated Christmas Wishlist or Advance Happy Birthday Wishlist.

December 25, 2009

I believe we can now feel the Christmas breeze in the air (or is it just the breeze from an upcoming typhoon? just kidding). In a few days time, people around the globe will again be busy shopping for presents, ornaments, or even for food to be served on Christmas Eve. Little children will now start to be nice, hoping that Santa Claus will drop them a gift on that special day. We’ll soon be hearing people singing Christmas carols in front of our homes.

Christmas is one of the most celebrated days in the Philippines. This is usually the time when families get to celebrate a holiday as a whole, the time when the foreign remittances does a great impact on our economy, and the time when crimes are at a high rate too.

Most of the areas in the upper half of the Philippines have experienced the onslaught of the typhoons that came one after the other. As I’ve observed though, no other nation or nationality can compare to the resilience of our countrymen. We have already mastered the art of smiling under pressure (I guess grace under pressure would be a better description of how we can easily adapt to the abrupt changes that comes into our lives).

Well, I won’t go further on discussing on how Christmas started (there are lots of materials about this topic already). We now proceed to my Christmas Wishlist!

For the non-material stuff, the following items below are my topmost wishes:

  1. Spend the holiday with everyone dear to me.
  2. Good health for each and everyone.
  3. World peace (sure feels like an answer in a beauty pageant).

For the material stuff, I’d really love to have the items below (I’ve been really good this year Santa!):

1. Any of the following DSLR Lenses: (Source: Nikon Website)

2. A sturdy tripod. Velbon would be good for me already (cost-wise and quality-wise) since I’m just an amateur in photography.

3. An SB-600 external flash.

4. A spare battery and memory card (SD) for my camera.

5. A Phottix battery grip for my camera.

Globe and CD-R King visit

August 16, 2009

I recently paid a visit to Globe to check if there are any technical specifications required for a USB extension cable to be used for their Tattoo USB modem as the one that I’ve recently bought from CD-R king (Price: 30 pesos) was not working on my laptop. They told me that the cable only needed to be USB 2.0 compliant. We then tested the cable in the Macbook at the Globe center and the modem was successfully detected by the broadband management software (this nearly made me want to buy a Macbook. haha). During this visit, I was lucky enough to speak to a more knowledgeable after-sales agent. I asked the agent, about my rant regarding their WIZ access which really seemed misleading due to the explanation of their sales agent before (link here). Back to the story, the sales agent easily gave me an answer to my question.

Sales agent: “Sir the account name for the WIZ spot is the mobile number of the sim and the password is ********”.

I wasn’t able to get the name of the sales agent though. I wanted to commend him for knowing what he is selling – unlike his colleague.
